The US Embassy in Manila, Philippines, hosts a US Social Security Office that handles SSA issues for Thailand. The following information is from their website information and relates to setting up an IDD for direct deposit of SSA benefits to a bank account in Thailand.

  • If you wish to have your benefits directly deposited into a foreign bank account, you will need to complete form SSA-1199, DIRECT DEPOSIT SIGN-UP FORM (THAILAND) - Form SSA-1199-OP107 (dated 02-2019)) and submit it to their Office in Manila. Click here to download a copy.

  • To start the IDD enrollment process, select and print the appropriate SSA-1199 form –Fill out sections 1 and 2. Have your financial institution fill out section 3. Mail the completed form to the appropriate Federal Benefits Unit indicated on the form (the address for the Manila office is on the form).

Please note, their site says it can take up to 10 business days for them to respond to an email. Also, if you telephone them at + 63-2-5301-2000 (Option 9) it must be from 8:00am to 11:00am (Manila Time) every Tuesday and Thursday, except on U.S. and Philippine Holidays.
